Helping every child move towards greater confidence and independence

Every child develops differently. Sometimes they need a little extra support to feel comfortable in their body, manage everyday tasks, participate at school or navigate the world around them.

Stepping Stones OT provides paediatric occupational therapy and assessment for children and young people from birth to 18 years.

Through play, movement, carefully selected activities and practical strategies, we help children strengthen the skills they need for everyday life. Therapy is tailored to your child’s individual needs, interests and goals, with families actively involved throughout the process.

How occupational therapy may help your child

Children may benefit from occupational therapy when challenges begin to affect their confidence, independence, learning or participation in everyday life.

We can support children with:

Fine motor and handwriting skills

Developing the coordination and hand strength needed for drawing, writing, cutting, dressing and other everyday tasks.

Therapy that feels purposeful, positive and personal

Children learn best when they feel safe, supported and engaged.

Our occupational therapists use play, sensory experiences, movement and task-based activities to make therapy both meaningful and motivating. Each program is developed around the individual child rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

We work closely with parents, carers, educators and other professionals to help children use their developing skills beyond the therapy room. Families are encouraged to participate in sessions, ask questions and learn practical strategies that can be used at home and in everyday routines.

For more than 20 years, Stepping Stones OT has worked alongside local children, families, schools and community organisations to build confidence, skills and independence.
